Today, 22 May May 2023, CANGO Executive Director Mr Thembinkosi Dlamini registered for the 2023 National Election at the Zakhele Sports Ground in Manzini. Speaking after the enrolment of his right and left thumbs, the elated Mr DLAMINI gave the EBC team a thumbs up for efficiency as everything was completed well under 3 minutes. The EBC officials and security detail were also friendly and approachable, even afforded the Director the courtesy of taking a few pictures.
Underscoring the importance of partaking in electoral processes, Mr Dlamini noted that “ Elections are a key pillar of democratic participation and engagements as they allow citizens the platform to make their voices heard and influence decisions that are affecting their daily life ”. It is therefore imperative that all democracy loving citizens register and participate in the 2023 National Election because it is this crop of MPs that will accompany the SADC mediated democratisation process in the legislature following the national dialogue.
Emaswati must denounce violence as a means resolving conflict, but rather choose the conciliatory approach of dialogue and more dialogue to derive consensus on matters that divide us. After all, the ED notes that democracy in non-binary in nature, requiring that a home grown solution suitable for the specific circumstances of Eswatini be found and agreed. “Only Emaswati united in this purpose can prevail”, He said.
